The SIMA® identifies the natural desires that motivate a person to perform a particular action.   When a person accomplishes something personally significant, he/she inevitably repeats some or all of the aspects of his/her innate motivation. Over time, a consistent pattern emerges that, if recognized, reveals the basis for the individual’s personal fulfillment and productivity.

Once you understand a person's “pattern,” you understand the kind of work assignment that will engage his heart and mind.  You know what the person will and will not deliver.  You know what she will avoid, and where he will get into trouble.  Because this pattern is irrepressible and constantly seeking expression, it is manifested throughout people's lives, every time they do something that they find satisfying and believe they do well.

The authority for these observations comes from over 50 years of studying the lived achievement experiences of over 100,000 people.  Our conclusion:  To achieve a high level of performance AND personal fulfillment in any job, you have be in a job/career situations where your natural or innate strengths match the critical requirements of the job.

The SIMA® Assessment and Planning Process involves working with an experienced SIMA® consultant in the four steps that are described below:

STEP 1:  GATHERING PREDICTIVE EVIDENCE

Select and describe 7-8 achievements that you enjoyed doing and felt you did well.  Choose these activities from throughout your work and life, beginning with any you can recall from your childhood. These do not need to be “Nobel Prize” achievements.  Even the most ordinary activities are rich in the kind of detail needed for this assessment, if these meet the essential criteria ? you enjoyed doing the activity and felt you did it well.  Everyone, not just “successful” people, has a story to be told. By reflecting on your story, you will begin to understand why you remember (in great detail!) certain events in your life?yet can hardly recall others.

If you are not “motivated” to write, you may choose to be interviewed via phone by a SIMA® consultant.

Fee for phone interview:  There is an additional charge of  $100.00 if your choose to be interviewed rather than to prepare your achievement data in written form.

STEP 2:  IDENTIFYING YOUR MOTIVATIONAL PATTERN®

This is the work of the SIMA® Consultant who will analyze your achievement data and prepare an 8-10 page report on your Motivational Pattern.   Your Motivational Pattern will define your

bulletSubject Matter - the content or objects which you are motivated to work with and through
bullet“Motivated” Abilities that  recur in your achievements
bullet Circumstances or Environment  - that which triggers and/or/sustains your motivation
bullet Operating Relationship -  how you prefer to work with and through others
bulletMotivational Payoff - the outcome or result that you seek from your efforts

STEP 3:  DISCUSSING your MOTIVATIONAL PATTERN® with a SIMA® CONSULTANT:

In a one-hour feedback discussion, you will discuss your report with a SIMA® Consultant, who will help you to understand the “evidence” in your pattern for the presence/absence of critical motivations. The SIMA® Consultant will also address any questions you may have about your current “fit” to your major field of study, job or career.

STEP 4: DEFINING YOUR “BEST FIT” JOB/CAREER or MAJOR FIELD OF STUDY

In this step, you will have the opportunity for another one-hour phone discussion with your SIMA® Consultant to addresses YOUR specific job/career questions. Some of the most frequent questions to which clients seek more accurate and informed answers include:

bulletWhat is the best job/career for me?

bulletWhat academic major best suits my motivators?

bulletIs “getting into management” the way to go for me?

bulletAm I motivated to be an entrepreneur?

bulletWhat should I (we) do to make the best of the rest of my life (lives)?

bulletHow can I shape my current job to better use my talents?

bulletHow can I manage my performance in a job that does not “fit” me?

bulletWhy am I bored at work?  What would bring back my passion and energy?

bulletHow should I target my job search?

For clients who are seeking career direction, we also offer the
